Why we exist
Bedroom producers spend thousands chasing gear they don't need. Plugin marketing is relentless, YouTube tutorials are often sponsored, and forum advice varies wildly. We built Plugin Central to be the place we wish existed when we started: a site that gives a clear verdict, explains why, and tells you whether to buy — without any commercial strings attached.
How we score
Every plugin we review gets a score from 0–10. That score is the average of four sub-scores: sound quality, ease of use, value for money, and versatility. We test each plugin across at least three different genres and DAWs. We buy the plugins ourselves (or use free/trial tiers where available), and we never accept review copies that require a positive review.
Affiliate links
We use affiliate links on some product pages. This means we earn a small commission if you buy through our link, at no cost to you. This income helps fund the site. It never changes our scores or which products we recommend — we've reviewed and scored products before choosing whether to include affiliate links, not the other way around. Read our full affiliate disclosure for more detail.
Who writes here
Plugin Central was founded in 2026. Our reviewers are working producers and engineers — not influencers or marketers. We are based in the UK and cover plugins primarily from the perspective of European bedroom producers, though our reviews reflect use cases across all budgets and setups.
